Herbert "Hub" White of Temple, Texas was a favorite of cookers and spectators for
years on the Central Texas barbecue circuit. Hub did all his barbecuing from his
wheelchair. As a youth Hub had lost a leg in a farm accident. He was a barber until he
retired.
Hub did not let his handicap get in his way. He did everything required with only
assistance of his wife. Hub collected enough trophies to keep him and everyone else
happy. The crowd was just as happy over a win by Hub as Hub himself was. He was an
inspiration and a genuine good guy.
